I WAS EXCITED TO LEARN that a local private club in Virginia allows the public to play on Thursdays for reduced rates with the cart included. Upon arrival the attendant pulled a golf cart up to my car. After paying and buying bottled soft drinks the pro shop clerk offered my buddy and I a cup of ice from the outside ice dispenser. I was impressed with the service.
ON MY SECOND VISIT no one greeted me in the parking lot so I walked to the cart staging area where this time a different person was working. I had to ask him which golf cart to take because he didn’t acknowledge me. He said I could have a clean cart if I wanted but also suggested that I could take a dirty one. I wasn’t impressed at all this time.
ENTERING THE PRO SHOP the employee wasn’t the same one from my first visit. He did not offer any ice for my drink which I just purchased from him and when I went to fill my cup the ice machine was empty. I couldn’t help comparing service thinking that consistency is key.
