THE ADDITION OF A BARBER SHOP in the men’s locker room does not necessarily require a lot of space but it is a big offering just the same. I have always been impressed when seeing this layout feature as it contributes to the wow factor and sets the club apart from others who do not have one. Staffing can be just a few key days a week with a licensed barber, whether retired or from a local shop. The position might be non-salaried working for tips only plus an employee meal and comp golf when allowed. Providing a sign-up sheet helps with organization and the development of a steady clientele over time as does being on-call for special requests. Oh, let’s not forget our better half by having a salon in the women’s locker room, too.
