FOR NON-TIPPING CLUBS no soliciting of tips goes without saying. Doing so is reason for dismissal and should be. However, at tipping clubs I heard employees say something like, “You can take care of the shoe cleaning here, sir. I can’t put it on the ticket.” I’ve also heard, “Was something wrong with the service? I noticed you did not leave a tip?” Saying such is wrong in my opinion. Whether the member or guest does or does not tip is the nature of the business. Some make up for others. It balances out. However, out of fairness, the non-tipping or tipping policies should be made known ahead of time to all to avoid any confusion, doubt, embarrassment and/or misunderstandings.
