SOMETHING NOT SEEN THAT OFTEN are two story locker rooms. Yet they are featured at some of the best and most famous clubs in the United States such as Bellerive (MO), Bridgewater (IN), Butler National (IL), Inverness (OH), Merion (PA), The Union League Golf Club at Torresdale (PA), Trump National (Colts Neck, NJ) and Winged Foot (NY). One advantage is the extra space provided. If a new clubhouse or a renovation cannot be built out, then try to go up if possible.
IMPORTANT LAYOUT DESIGN FEATURES to have on both floors are showers and bathrooms. It also makes for quicker and more efficient service to have a separate shoe shine room on each level, such as at Bellerive. Butler National also has a mid level guest lounge; with the steam, sauna, whirlpool, private massage suite and shoe shine room on this same level, too.
A BIG ADVANTAGE of two story locker rooms is when hosting a professional tournament. The pros had the privacy and security of Bellerive’s first floor locker area. The second floor locker space was used by the amateurs on pro am days and the BMW executives all week long.
