I ADMIT THAT SUGGESTING Green River Floats and Black Cows can be classified as an amenity sounds like a stretch; but all I know is that when I was a barboy in the men’s card room at Edgewood Valley CC (IL), we sold a lot of Black Cows. You know, vanilla ice cream and root beer. We served two large scoops of the ice cream in a clear plastic 16 ounce cup along with a 12 ounce glass bottle of root beer on the side. The golfers did the pouring. Also, the French vanilla ice cream was delicious because a member owned the company and added extra butter. Offering Green River Floats would be unique to clubs in the area.
OH, GETTING BACK to these treats being an amenity? The definition is, “Something that helps to provide comfort, convenience or enjoyment.” Hmmm, sounds good to me!
