You can experiment trying the different white liquid brands at full strength or also mix with the Kiwi Shoe Whitener; developing a formula pleasing to you. A small amount of water can be added if the polish formula becomes too thick.

“I apply the Special Formula white liquid shoe polish with a small paint brush. It covers better than anything I’ve ever used and won’t flake, chip, peel or crack.  It gets the job done, saves time and dries quickly; then I simply buff using a hand held gray horse hair polishing brush for the finishing touch.” Lenin Medina
